R.I.P.: Jackie Tracey

Jackie Tracey

died August 13, 2009, England)

Jackie Tracey, the wife of the British pianist Stan Tracey and a campaigner on behalf of jazz musicians died August 13th at the age of 80. In the 1950s she worked as a promoter for visiting American pop and jazz artists, among them Duke Ellington. She married Stan Tracey in 1960 and managed him as well as many other British musicians and formed self-help organizations such as the Lambeth New Music Group and the Musicians' Action Group; later founding the label Steam records dedicated to her husband's music.
