Sheila E. Appears Before Senate for Artists' Rights

Today, August 4, The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold an important hearing on fair compensation to recording artists (The Performance Rights Act). The Recording Academy has been instrumental in the advancement of this legislation, and in March the U.S. House Judiciary Committee passed the bill thanks in large part to Academy members' emails and phone calls.

At the Senate hearing this week, Sheila E., a board member of The Academy's Los Angeles Chapter, will testify and make the case for artists' rights. You can follow the action on August 4 at 2:30 p.m. ET through the Senate webcast: http://judiciary.senate.gov/hearings/hearing.cfm?id=4011.

In the fall, we expect this Committee to vote on the bill and we will once again ask for your help. Thank you for your continued support of music makers' rights.
