"Ralph J. Gleason Presents Go Ride The Music & West Pole" (Eagle Vision/ST2) 2008

Essential document of the Bay Area psychedelic rock scene of the late 60s. This 2-DVD set brings together two TV programs produced noted music critic Ralph J. Gleason, covering the San Francisco psychedelia scene of the late 60s and early 70s. DVD #1 features the program "Go Ride the Music," featuring 2 giants of the era: Jefferson Airplane perform at an intimate indoor venue while Quicksilver Messenger Service are filmed in the open air. There are also cameo appearances from David Crosby and Jerry Garcia.
DVD #2, "West Pole," features a diverse range of acts including Ace of Cups, Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Sons of Champlin, performing live in various settings. There are detailed footage of venues where the SF rock was born, many of which no longer exist, like The Matrix, the Avalon Ballroon and Bill Graham's Fillmore West, where giants like Miles Davis and Santana also loved to perform.
