DVD of the Day - "Friedrich Gulda: So What?!"

DVD of the Day
Friedrich Gulda: "So What?!" (Deutsche Grammophon) 2007
Simply superb! A masterpiece DVD full of masterpieces by a genius who transcended all boundaries, genres and labels.
Besides the main documentary, "So What?!" (directed by Benedict Mirow and Friedmann Leipold), there's a concert film ("Solo Flight" with works by Bach, Schubert, Debussy and Gulda), a delightfully ironic interview from 1986, and gorgeous rare concert performances including the famous Mozart/Gulda "collaboration" on Sarastro's Aria "In diesen heil'gen Hallen" from "Die Zauberflote" (The Magic Flute) opera.
There are also many images from his collaborations with jazz artists as well as the famous live duo performance with drummer/singer Ursula Anders, on which both appear completely naked on the stage! And, btw, Ursula looks pretty delicious and very sensual on her drumset... super-white natural breasts, red pubic hair... nevermind.
Subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Chinese
NTSC, 165 minutes
